Kazam ScreenCaster 1.2.0 is Released Ubuntu 12.04 Precise/11.10 Oneiric/previous versions Kazam is a simple screen recording program that will capture the content of your screen and record a video file that can be played by any video player that supports VP8/WebM video format.

Optionally you can record sound from any sound input device that is supported and visible by PulseAudio.

Kazam Features

• Ability to record two audio channels. Volume levels for these channels can be configured.
• Record video in VP8 or H264 codecs
• Countdown Timer
• Adjust framerate
• Mouse Capture
• Ability to record user specified region
• Uses Gstreamer as backend (not ffmpeg)
• Unity, Gnome Shell, Classic Gnome sessions supported

Changes in version 1.2.0

• Region size is now displayed in the region window
• Screen resolution change is detected and video source selector is now updated accordingly
• Debug option
• Countdown window and about dialog box made prettier
• App indicator menu and Gtk Status Icon were slightly changed

Please note that Kazam support and bug fixes will be available only for Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot and 12.04 Precise Pangolin. Older releases are here just for historical reasons, for those who might need them. Natty, Maverick and Lucid releases are unmaintaned and unsupported.

To install Kazam ScreenCaster on Ubuntu Open Terminal (Press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy the following commands in the Terminal:

• sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kazam-team/stable-series
• sudo apt-get update
• sudo apt-get install kazam

For development builds, run these commands instead:

• sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kazam-team/unstable-series
• sudo apt-get update
• sudo apt-get install kazam

for Previous Ubuntu Version install this version of Kazam:

• sudo add-apt-repository ppa:vanhoof/kazam-scratch
• sudo apt-get update
• sudo apt-get install kazam
