Ubuntu 12.04 To Ditch Global Menu?

Is Precise gearing up for another change to App Menu behaviour? 

It may be too early to tell for certain but new code aimed at finishing ‘the implementation of the locally integrated menubars‘ has been proposed for ‘merging’ into Metacity, Unity, Light Themes and Compiz. The code is also linked to a bug report titled ‘Global menu is not ergonomical on large screens‘.

Is ‘LIM’ a new approach for Ubuntu’s much derided global manu implementation? Will ‘locally integrated menus’ be integrated into the window titlebars thereby disbanding with a global menu for non-maximised apps?

We shouldn’t have too long to wait until we find out…
